Octopus has eight tentacles or rather arms and one huge bulbous head. Octopus are invertebrates, they have no bones in their body. Each of the arms has 200 suction cups like protuberances that it uses to help it grab onto its prey. Octopus has three hearts. They are solitary creatures. They generally live and hunt alone.
Octopuses live anywhere from 100 meters to 150 meters below the surface of the water. Some live in water’s surface in shells, reefs and crevices. Some species live on the floor of the ocean.
Can be very dangerous
A very highly intelligent invertebrate they can use different techniques to hunt down its prey. When threatened or trying to hide from a predator an octopus is capable of changing its color to match it’s surrounding. In situations when camouflage doesn’t work it release a jet of dark ink to blind the prey. They have the ability to emit light to attract its prey. The octopus uses venom to immobilize the prey while consuming it.
Octopus is becoming extinct
Octopuses generally migrate towards shallow waters during the colder months of the year while deep-sea migrations happen during the warmer months of the year. Due to habitat destruction, hunting, over fishing and threats from human they might face serious trouble of being extinct one day.
